“My adventures have just begun” - Plenty of smiles as Invacare award an Alber e-pilot to one lucky winner

After a successful showcase at Naidex earlier this year, Invacare launched a competition to win an Alber e-pilot electric handbike. The e-pilot, designed by Alber, a market leader in power add on drives, has the power to transform a manual wheelchair into a sporty vehicle in just a few simple steps. It boasts a range of useful features including a range of up to 50km, the easyNavi wheelchair friendly navigation system, cruise control and much more!

Lots of interest was shown in the Alber e-pilot with an impressive number of participants entering the competition. Chosen at random, the e-pilot winner was Rachel Broxton!

The competition was launched via Facebook and entrants were expected to share a post of ours as well as complete an online form. Rachel came across the competition whilst scrolling through her newsfeed one evening and entered without a second thought. As this was a prize draw selected at random, Rachel was in disbelief when she was finally contacted and announced as the winner.

In July, an ecstatic Rachel visited our factory to collect her prize and commented, “the e-pilot is just fabulous, it looks great and will give me the freedom that I need.” While the e-pilot was being fitted by our Technical team, we gave Rachel an overview of the product as well as a tour of our facilities here in Pencoed, finishing off the day with an exciting test drive.

Asked what winning the e-pilot means to her, Rachel was quick to announce, “this fabulous prize has given me life, I am going to be able to go out and access so many new places I would not have even been able to before due to my own capabilities of power and strength that's needed every day.” Everyday activities such as popping to the shop will be much more convenient and accessible to Rachel now as she generally relies on taxis which can be costly.

She also added that the handbike will now allow her some confidence to explore the area in which she lives in as well as joining friends on bike rides through woods/forests which have been inaccessible in the past with the uneven and rough terrain.

With a beaming smile, winner Rachel left with her brand-new e-pilot proclaiming, “my adventures have just begun. Thanks to all involved, you have made me able to enjoy life again.”
