Invacademy offers a range of courses to support Invacare Retailers and Healthcare Professionals.  All of our courses are free to attend except Impetus*, and each course is presented by our experienced and knowledgeable training team. Course Level: Basic
Duration: Two days

The highly successful and comprehensive two-day course will help partcipants become competent in assessing and prescribing a basic manual wheelchair whilst looking at the principles of posture and seating as well as pressure ulcer development and management. 
The course will help candidates to select the right wheelchair dependant on the patient's needs and requirements by offering practical information and advice. It will also look to improve clinical skills for wheelchair assessment and enable basic competence prescription skills.

Presented by an experienced Occupational Therapist, this course offers a mix of practical, group discussion and active participation to assist and support participants’ learning in a beneficial environment. Book your place here.

 

Servicing/Maintenance and Adjustments on Power chairs

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

A one day course to give participants the opportunity to understand how to service and maintain Invacare's power wheelchair range, including identifying the tools required to carry out the work. The day will start by looking in detail at the key components of the chairs with a hands-on session on how to remove and fit them. Participants will learn how to adjust the castor bearings, seat width and depth, legrest and armrest wheels, motors and more. By the end of the day, participants will become confident in adjusting, setting up, servicing and maintaining Invacare's power chair range.

Power Chair Controls Set up and Operation

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

The aim of this one day course is to give participants a clear understanding of how to set up and operate Invacare power wheelchair  control systems. The course will focus on the ACS/DX and P&G® systems, looking at both the master remotes and secondary remotes. A hands-on workshop will then give the attendees a chance to set-up and trial the systems for themselves, getting a real insight into how they work. By the end of the course, participants will have a good understanding of the use of the Hand Held Programmers (HHP) and PC Wizard, and will have the knowledge to download and edit the Invacare factory standard programmes. Book your place here


 

Fault Finding on Power chairs

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

This one day course looks at how to diagnose and correct faults on the Invacare Power Chair range. Participants will gain knowledge on how to identify the Dynamic and P&G® control system fault codes and learn how to rectify issues. A workshop session will be available focusing on fault finding on test rigs, which will include the use of multi-meters. It is advised that delegates wanting to attend this course have previously attended the Power Chair Controls Set-up & Operation course in order to get the most out of the day. Book your place here

 
  
Alber Power Add-on overview

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day


The course is aimed at those wanting to gain a basic understanding of Invacare’s Alber power add-on range. This one day course begins with an overview on the Alber range, looking at the E-Fix, E-Motion,  viamobil and Twion. Participants will then look in detail at the push and brake aids followed by a session on how to convert manual wheelchairs to a power chair, using the power add-ons. The afternoon session will consist of a hands-on workshop allowing attendees to fit brackets, take part in a fault finding exercise and understand the service exchange. By the end of this course, participants will become

Service/Maintenance of Patient Lifters

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

A one day course that will give participants the opportunity to understand how to service and maintain Invacare's Patient Lifter range, including identifying the tools required to carry out the necessary work. There will be a hands-on workshop that looks at the key features of the range and how to assemble, set up and operate the lifters. Participants will then learn how to undertake fault finding followed by a look at the warranty and returns procedure. Service/Maintenance of Robin Overhead Hoist

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

The aim of this course is to give participants the opportunity to understand how to service and maintain Invacare’s Robin Overhead Hoist system, including identifying the tools required to carry out the work.
This one day course will start by looking in detail at the key components of the hoist, focusing on the technical specifications and features and benefits. A hands-on session will follow, where participants will learn how to set-up and operate the hoist, followed by a fault finding exercise. Participants will then learn how to undertake a service on the system and understand where the test points are. By the end of this course, participants will become confident in adjusting, setting up servicing and maintaining Invacare’s Robin Overhead Hoist. Book your place here
 

Kuschall

Course Level: Basic
Duration: One day

This course is aimed at those wishing to improve their knowledge on the Küschall active wheelchair product range and get a clear insight into the key features and benefits of each chair. Over the course of the day, attendees will be presented with an overview of the range, which will include the K-Series, Compact, Ultra Light and Champion. The course will also involve a hands-on workshop where delegates will be shown how to set-up the chairs and how to correctly measure and spec a chair for a client. Book your place here

 

Invacare Manual Wheelchairs

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day
 

This basic level course is aimed at those wishing to build their knowledge on the Invacare manual wheelchair range and get a clear understanding of the key features and benefits of each chair. Over the course of the day, attendees will be presented with an overview of the range, paying particular attention to the wheelchairs for medium active and passive clients. The course will also involve a hands-on workshop where delegates will be shown how to set-up a manual wheelchair and how to correctly measure and spec a chair for a client. Book your place here

The aim of this course is to give participants the opportunity to understand how to service and maintain Invacare’s Manual Wheelchair Range, including identifying the tools required to carry out the work. This one day course will start by looking in detail at the key components of the chairs with a hands-on session on how to remove and fit them. Participants will then learn how to adjust the seat height, centre of gravity, seat width and depth, check wheel alignment and more. By the end of this course, participants will become confident in adjusting, setting up servicing and maintaining Invacare’s Manual wheelchair range. Book your place here
 

Scooter Servicing and Maintenance 

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

This one day course will give participants a complete overview of Invacare’s Scooter range and an opportunity to understand how to service and maintain the products. The day will start with a product presentation leading into a session on how faults are displayed on the scooters and ways in which they can be rectified. Participants will then have a hands-on workshop session with an opportunity to view and use the PC Wizard software along with HHP’s for Scooters. In the afternoon, the focus will be on how to test the motors, batteries and charger followed by tips on how to identify good test points. Another workshop session will allow participants to try fault finding on test rigs with the use of multi-meters. By the end of this course, participants will become confident in adjusting, servicing and maintaining Invacare’s scooter range. Book your place here

 

Pressure Ulcer Awareness and Mattress Care 

Course Level:  Basic
Duration: One day

Risk assessment and selection of appropriate equipment is paramount in order to prevent the formation of pressure ulcers, heal existing ulcers and improve patient outcomes. The first part of this course offers information and discussion to extend basic knowledge of pressure ulcer prevention and provides practical information on the importance of mattress selection. The second part of this course highlights mattresses as a medical device and outlines best practice in mattress cleaning, care, transportation and auditing. A collaborative approach can lead to significant reductions in mattress failure rates and an increased return on investment of pressure reducing equipment.  Book your place here
